Nalbandian revenge on Henman
Tennis: David Nalbandian, of Argentina, last night avenged his defeat by Tim Henman at Wimbledon by knocking the British No 1 out in the second round of the ATP Masters Series event in Montreal. Nalbandian, beaten in the fourth round at the All England Club, won 6-4, 6-4 despite being forced off by rain when he was poised to serve at 4-2 in the second set. The defeat ended a run of six wins on hard courts for Henman.
Grant seals win
Hockey: England’s women beat Holland, the World Cup runners-up and European champions, when Alex Danson and Helen Grant scored first-half goals to steer them to a 2-1 victory in Barcelona. The sides are scheduled to meet in a second game today.

Appeal date set
Motor racing: The appeal by the Williams-BMW team against Ralf Schumacher’s punishment for causing a crash at the German Grand Prix on Sunday will be heard in Paris on August 19. The German faces being relegated ten qualifying places at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Llorente named
Cycling: Javier Pascual Llorente was the competitor who tested positive for EPO during the Tour de France last month. The Kelme rider said there is a “French campaign of persecution against Spanish cycling”.
