SPEECH and language therapists believe that the standard of care they provide now is significantly lower than last year, says Therapy Weekly (Sept 7).
A survey by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy (RCSLT) found that half the respondents feel that the quality of their service is falling and three quarters say their budgets had been frozen or cut. Eighty per cent of new speech therapy graduates cannot find jobs.
Richard Guy, of the RCSLT, says: “It seems likely that many services will have to make redundancies because they are being asked to reduce services.”
