Drafted in as an 11th-hour director-for-hire, Duncan Jones (Moon) nonetheless adds some credible Hitchcockian va-va-voom to a project that’s all video-game logic and fortune-cookie world view. Jake Gyllenhaal, doing his best “intense”, plays the bestubbled supersoldier Colter Stevens, whose mission it is to be repeatedly blasted into the brain of a dead train-bombing victim, experience the last eight minutes of the latter’s life and thus discover the identity of the terrorist mastermind who planned it all. Like Run Lola Run replayed ad infinitum, Source Code is far less entertaining than it thinks it is.
