Somerset’s form gives them edge

Fixed odds

SOMERSET look a solid bet to beat Glamorgan in their Twenty20 clash at Taunton on Monday evening - a match being shown live on Sky Sports 1.

The bookmakers cannot split the pair - Ladbrokes and Stan James make them both 5-6 chances - and that, perhaps, is not surprising given that the pair fought out a thriller in the competition in Cardiff last week.

Set 184 to win, Glamorgan needed a dozen from the final over and scraped home by virtue of losing fewer wickets.

Somerset will feel that was a match that they contrived to lose, though, because they were all out with eight balls left - a crime in this competition - and then helped Glamorgan along with a total of eight wides and no-balls.

The Sabres were not in such benevolent mood three days later, beating Worcestershire by 15 runs at Taunton after rattling up a daunting 210. Matthew Wood was the start of the show, smashing 94 off just 35 balls.

By contrast, Glamorgan have since proved no match for Gloucestershire or Warwickshire. They lost to Gloucestershire by seven wickets after being dismissed for 128 and then went down by 54 runs to Warwickshire.

Overall, Surrey remain 5-1 favourites to win the competition. Somerset are 16-1, which is surprising given that Glamorgan are two points shorter.
