The khaki bomber
The khaki green flight jacket used to be the stuff of skinheads rather than supermodels – worn with bovver boots and drainpipe jeans, it was an official signifier of angry yoofs in the days before they could express themselves on Twitter.
![Gigi Hadid photographed in Los Angeles](https://cdn.statically.io/img/www.thetimes.com/imageserver/image/%2Fmethode%2Ftimes%2Fprod%2Fweb%2Fbin%2F054a86b0-dfd5-11e5-939c-4ff243c7251c.jpg?crop=1000%2C1500%2C0%2C0)
Latterly, it’s gone a bit more glam. You’re more likely to see model of the moment Gigi Hadid with one thrown on over some au courant “athleisure” wear (that’s gym clothes that you haven’t worked out in) or Sienna Miller teaming hers with a bourgeois pair of Gucci loafers.
The street style crowd’s favourite bomber is from much hyped label Vetements, but it costs a prohibitive £915.
Instead, the brand to go for is Alpha Industries, whose £99 sage green bombers come with real-deal poofiness (a technical term) and a warmth factor of bouncer-slash-security guard. For those worried that this might not be the most flattering of looks, congrats on your perceptive skills – it isn’t. But H&M’s £24.99 version is a little less structured (read: round) and will look great with jeans.
