Shepherd and Wedderburn, which was founded in 1768 and is a longstanding feature in the Scottish legal firmament, has offices in Aberdeen, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. The firm advises clients in areas such as clean energy, company and commercial law, infrastructure, financial services, property, rural issues, private wealth and technology.

This year’s standout work has included advising Moray Offshore Windfarm (West) on the £2 billion financing of its offshore wind project, representing Crerar Hotel Group, which is based in Edinburgh, during the company’s sale to Blantyre Capital and Fairtree Hotel Investments, and working with Taylor Wimpey on the Greater Blindwells development in East Lothian that could create up to 6,000 homes and related infrastructure.

The firm has been appointed as legal adviser to the Cask Whisky Association, which was launched in September to protect buyers and sellers of casks of whisky for investment.

In May the firm relocated its headquarters to an office development at Haymarket Square, Edinburgh.
