Sir, What rubbish to suggest that the majority of Scots don’t support England in the World Cup (report, June 14, and letters, June 15). Surely everybody knows that we have a legendary reputation for backing the underdog.

Sir, After Thursday night’s World Cup results, the only way that Trinidad & Tobago can now reach the final 16 requires them to beat Paraguay and also requires England to beat Sweden by a comfortable margin. May we therefore look forward to witnessing all the Scots who have purchased Trinidad & Tobago shirts at exorbitant prices, and who wish to get as much use out of them as possible, cheering on England in their final group game?
