HAILEYBURY were involved in a thrilling tie against Toowoomba Grammar School, from Australia. In their 45 overs, Haileybury scored 204 for eight. Toowoomba reached 102 without loss, but with two overs left were 194 for eight. The penultimate over went for ten, leaving the scores level. Ed Rayfield, the opening bowler, then bowled a maiden.

Although some schools have struggled to put out their strongest teams because of exams, some notable high scores have been recorded.

Felsted, led by Chris Huntington with 118 and Joe Buttleman with 105 not out, made 302 for two in a 50-overs match against Kimbolton. Paul Muchall, with 160 not out, led Durham to 304 without loss before they declared against Glenalmond and then took six for 43. Sam Mount, 12, scored 136 not out in 88 balls for King Edward’s, Bath, against Downside, while Wycliffe rattled up 306 for six against King’s, Gloucester.

Robbie Williams, of Marlborough, celebrated signing a summer contract with Middlesex by claiming six for 25 to help his team to a ten-wicket victory against Free Foresters.

Michael and Ian Walling took Lancaster Royal Grammar School to victory against Sedbergh, Michael scoring 108 not out in 228 for one declared and his brother taking five for 27 to bowl out Sedbergh for 106.
