David Brewis, part of the dormant Field Music, makes his solo debut with this hyperactive effort. Closer to the studious, grooveless style of North American indie than Britpop, this is surely the most Canadian record to emerge from Sunderland. Disappointment ‘99, built around some earth-shaking beats, and the dreamy, complex Keep Your Water are standouts; This is No Fun rather lives up to its title.
