Sir, It appears that it is no more difficult today to gain access to the grounds of the Royal Military Academy (reports, June 16 and 17) than it was in 1954.
In July of that year I joined the rest of my comrades on a Women’s Royal Army Corps officers’ training course at nearby Hindhead in a reprisal raid on Sandhurst. (The cadets had previously raided our quarters as a prank.)
The result of our carefully planned operation was the temporary acquisition of several valuable items, including swords, a cuirass, two stuffed heads, a coat stand and the dinner gong — and our being confined to barracks for three days.
