Sir, When I turned 60 I compiled a list of the 60 things I had once planned to have done but had not (“45 ways to find middle-aged happiness”, Times2, July 4). The list included a mix of deeds of derring-do and acts of blatant chutzpah that are the stuff of adventure stories.
My resolve to make up for these omissions as quickly as possible lasted no longer than the realisation that the only reason I had managed to get to the age I had was that I had not attempted these stunts in the first place.
