Reeder writes

Sir, I was deeply disappointed by David Sinclair’s review of Lou Reed’s concert at the Hammersmith Apollo (First Night, August 19). Dismissing the performance as “lacklustre”, Mr Sinclair saved his worst until last, damning Lou Reed for his choice of material.

As a 15-year-old, I was able to appreciate that, at 62, Lou Reed was still expressing his deepest thoughts, on matters such as religion and death, through his music.

Nor did I find the band lacklustre. I have never heard the cello played with such vitality and the closest I have ever heard and seen to such electrifying drumming is on old film of Keith Moon playing with The Who.

Yours faithfully,

GEORGIA SAWYER,

10 Sion Road, Bath BA1 5SG.
