White Ensign Association and Royal Navy Submarine Association

Baroness Thatcher was one of the guests of honour at a reception held yesterday at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum to launch the book Commander-in-Chief, a celebration of the life of Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Fieldhouse of Gosport, by Captain Basil Watson. Vice Admiral Sir Roy Newman, Chairman of the Museum, was also present. Admiral Sir Jock Slater, Chairman of the White Ensign Association, Lady Fieldhouse and Admiral Sir Jonathan Band, Commander-in-Chief Fleet spoke. Among the guests were: Admiral of the Fleet Sir Henry Leach, Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire Captain Sir Donald Gosling, Field Marshal Lord Bramall, Air Marshal Sir John Curtiss, Admiral Lord Boyce, Vice Admiral Sir James Burnell-Nugent, the Mayor of Gosport, Mr Peter Viggers MP and Mrs Mary Fagan.
