Real grab win but Cristiano Ronaldo sees red

CRISTIANO RONALDO'S first home match for Real Madrid in two months, last night's 4-2 win against Almeria, could not have been more eventful. The £80m summer signing from Manchester United won a penalty, missed it, scored his team's final goal and was booked for taking off his shirt, and finally shown a red card.

Real had fallen 2-1 behind after Sergio Ramos' header had given them a first-half lead. Gonzalo Higuain equalised for Madrid in the 74th minute, before an extrordinary turn of events for Ronaldo. The winger won an 82nd-minute penalty when he threw himself over keeper Diego Alves. His spot kick was saved but Karim Benzema converted the rebound. Ronaldo fired in Madrid's fourth goal, received his booking, and then in the last minute he connected with a retaliatory kick on Almeria's Juanma Ortiz and was sent off.

...and so does Jose

JOSE MOURINHO was sent to the stand as his Internazionale side suffered their second league defeat of the season, losing 2-1 at Juventus last night. The former Chelsea manager was dismissed for sarcastically applauding referee Massimiliano Saccani for awarding a contentious free kick from which Juventus took the lead. Inter, the Serie A leaders, went behind when Giorgio Chiellini's header from Diego's free kick was deflected into his own net by Lucio. Samuel Eto'o headed the equaliser, but Claudio Marchisio restored Juve's lead when he went past Walter Samuel before lifting the ball over Julio Cesar in the 58th minute. Juve's Felipe Melo was sent off late on for aiming an elbow at Inter substitute Mario Balotelli.
