HECKLERS

Radio 4, 8pm

This is a series that sets out to offer provocative ideas that challenge popular opinion without the comic banter of David Baddiel’s Heresy. It’s more of a proper debate, chaired by the Dragons’ Den presenter Evan Davis. Kicking off the arguments is Brendan O’Leary, a politics professor and former constitutional adviser to the Kurdistan Regional Government, who argues that Iraq is well on the way to becoming a federal pluralist democracy. As a former All Ireland Debating Champion in his student days, O’Leary will no doubt hold his ground.

SUZI QUATRO’S HEROES OF ROCK’N’ROLL

Radio 2, 10pm

Ah, that low twangy guitar sound, helped by lots of echo and tape delay. It can only be Duane Eddy. Suzi Quatro, who still sounds as if she’s wearing biker leathers after all these years, meets the Arizona-born guitarist responsible for such hits as Rebel Rouser and Peter Gunn in an era when looking for the right echo involved scouring junkyards for old water tanks. And it’s nice to know that he still hangs out with Buddy Holly’s Crickets at Phil Everly’s house.
