Radio 2, 7pm

Not only was Newley a proper pop star in the Fifities, not only did he write and star in a great musical, Stop the World, I Want to Get Off, and another very good one, The Roar of the Greasepaint, the Smell of the Crowd, but he married Joan Collins back when she really was young and, most impressively, provided David Bowie with his singing voice. Jonathan Ross has the pleasure and privilege of telling us all about him over the next four weeks.

Radio 4, 6.30pm
