Is this the ultimate off-roader? Built by CCM, one of the oldest names in British motorbike racing, the SF700 ATV quad bike has been designed for use by military special forces and is tough enough to tackle the most inhospitable terrain. Its exact specifications are classified, but the company says it will boast high-tech features including a microphone that detects the direction of enemy weapons fire and the type of weapon used.
Last week CCM began shipping more than 1,200 JL200 military bikes to the Afghan police. It has also designed and built an off-road special forces motorbike based on its civilian CMX450 model. “We’ve been able to transfer the technology we’ve created on the racetrack into our military vehicles,” said Austin Clews, CCM director. “We’ve listened to what special forces have requested in terms of design and performance and have come up with a motorbike and an ATV that will perform in the toughest of environments.
