Punters prepare for packed weekend

ARMCHAIR punters will be spoilt for choice this weekend with a full domestic soccer programme being supported by top-quality golf and cricket.

Arsenal have made an impressive start to the defence of their Barclays Premiership title and meet Bolton Wanderers at Highbury on Saturday in a match that starts at 12.45pm and will be shown on Sky Premiership Plus.

The champions are a best-priced 2-7 with Blue Square to pick up another three points, but Bolton have also made a bright start and are capable of making the Gunners dig deep. The 12-1 that Bet365 offer against Sam Allardyce’s team is insulting, although they would no doubt settle for a draw, which Paddy Power quote at 9-2.

On Sunday, the feature match is the derby between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were impressive when winning 3-0 away to Paris St Germain in the Champions’ League on Wednesday night and, if in similar mood, will take all the beating. Totesport make them 8-15, with Didier Drogba, who scored twice in France, 4-1 with Ladbrokes to score first.

The Ryder Cup will reach its conclusion on Sunday. There will be betting “in-running” with all bookmakers, and they are certain to price up all of the individual matches. Going into the clash, USA were 4-6 favourites, with Europe being a standout 15-8 with Paddy Power.

On Saturday, South Africa and West Indies meet in the Champions Trophy at the Oval with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs. South Africa are 1-2 with Coral, with West Indies being 6-4.
