Calling all bachelors and bachelorettes: Hugh Grant’s former party pad is for rent for £8,000 a week. The Notting Hill star, who is set to play disgraced MP Jeremy Thorpe in a Stephen Frears TV drama, lived in this three-bedroom South Kensington penthouse when About a Boy was released. It’s awash with reflective surfaces and has two roof terraces and a hot tub. 020 3151 7648, hamptons.co.uk

The Dutch football legend Johan Cruyff was so obsessed by the game that when his wife was pregnant with their first child in 1974, he persuaded her to have a caesarean so he could go and play for Barcelona against Real Madrid. His team won 5-0, and went on to win La Liga. He later coached Barcelona, and the Catalan city was his home for decades. Cruyff lived in a six-bedroom villa in the exclusive Bonanova district until his death last year, and now his son, Jordi, who used to play for Manchester United, is selling it for €5.3m (£4.6m).
The Cruyff family bought the four-storey home in 1991, then renovated it before moving in the following year, when the city hosted the Olympics. That same year, Cruyff coached Barça to victory in the European Cup. They won 1-0 against Sampdoria at Wembley — the first time the team had won the trophy. 00 34 933 562989, lucasfox.com
