Sir, Smiling TV presenters often talk of good weather as sunshine, a hot day and a cloudless sky. At the present time in southeast England, good weather would be a regular rainfall.
At the age of 67, I find that carrying 100–200 litres a day to water the garden has become a backache-inducing, arthropathy-aggravating ritual.
Given their high profits, perhaps the water companies should compensate the NHS for the extra strain that I and other gardeners are taking?
