Power plan stays

The existing line has to be replaced if Scottish, UK and European Union targets for the generation of electricity from renewable sources are to be met. After two rounds of public consultation, we remain on course to submit a planning application to Scottish ministers for consent to build the line by the end of this year.

In preparing the plans, and the associated environmental statement, we are continuing to address in detail all the community, environmental, technical and economic issues around the development of the replacement line.

We believe this will enable us to identify the optimum route for the line and, in turn, help to ensure that there is in place the infrastructure to allow Scotland’s renewable energy ambitions to become a reality.
