Portsmouth look to bounce back

Portsmouth should be backed at a top-priced 7-5 with Bet Direct to kick-start their season by beating Fulham at Fratton Park on Monday evening.

Pompey sit one off the foot of the Premiership after taking a solitary point from their opening two games, following a 1-1 home draw with Birmingham City with a 2-1 defeat away to Charlton Athletic - but will soon be climbing the table if able to repeat their South Coast performances of last season when they boasted the fifth-best home record in the top flight.

Manager Harry Redknapp moved to tighten his defence this summer, bringing in Andy Griffin and David Unsworth, while also completing the signing of Newcastle forward Lomano LuaLua, who enjoyed a successful loan spell last season.

The pairing of LuaLua and Yakubu in attack promises to prove a handful.

Fulham undid the good work of their first two games, a draw away to Manchester City and home win over Bolton, when losing 2-0 to Middlesbrough at Craven Cottage last Wednesday. Chris Coleman, their manager, has threatened “two or three changes” after that disappointing performance. Fulham are 21-10 with Skybet, and the draw best at 23-10 with Sporting Odds.
