The Portrait of Humanity award serves as a powerful prism through which to understand a myriad of stories — including poignant reminders that 2021 proved there is light at the end of the coronavirus tunnel.
Three winning photographic series and 30 single photographs have been selected by a panel of jurors at media company 1854, including the British Journal of Photography’s editorial director Izabela Radwanska Zhang.
Their work will be exhibited as part of a major internationally touring exhibition which opens at the Photo2022 festival in Melbourne, Australia, between April 29-May 22. The 30 photographs will also be published by Hoxton Mini Press in the Portrait of Humanity book besides the awards’ shortlisted images.
