Police make ‘significant’ arrest over Graff jewellery heist

Police tonight made a further arrest in connection with Britain’s biggest jewellery robbery.

Scotland Yard said officers arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of conspiring to rob Graff Jewellers in Mayfair. Sources told The Times that police believed the arrest to be “significant” and the man remains in police custody.

More than £40 million worth of goods were taken from the store on August 6.

Yesterday a sixth man appeared in court over the robbery. Benjamine McFarlane, 21, of Paveley Street, St John’s Wood, north west London, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court in south west London accused of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Courtney Lawrence, 30, of Ladbroke Grove, central London; Gregory Jones, 29, of Elgin Avenue, Harrow, north west London; Jamal Mogg, 42, of Westby Road, Bournemouth; Solomun Beyene, 24, of Lilestone Street, St John’s Wood; and Craig Calderwood, 26, of no fixed abode, appeared at Kingston Crown Court on Tuesday.
