Carlisle United and AFC Wimbledon shared eight goals and a point apiece after a thriller at Brunton Park. Sean Rigg opened the scoring early for the visitors in the fourth minute before Kyle Dempsey equalised within ten minutes.

Wimbledon had loanee Matt Tubbs to thank for their point - the Bournemouth striker scored on 22 minutes to put Wimbledon back in front and grabbed a second on 81 minutes after Dempsey again, Josh Gillies and Brad Potts had given Carlisle a 4-2 lead. Adebayo Azeez completed the Wimbledon comeback as the game entered injury time to lift his side up to 12th. Carlisle remain in the bottom three, with just three points from six games.

Cheltenham Town remain top despite being held to a 0-0 draw at Morecambe, who move up to second. Northampton Town rise to seventh after a first-half double from Marc Richards saw off Dagenham and Redbridge at Victoria Road.

Plymouth Argyle are a point behind in eighth after defeating Luton Town with a Dominic Blizzard goal.

Michael Appleton’s Oxford United have still to taste victory after drawing at Southend United. Danny Hylton’s penalty salvaged a point at Roots Hall after Jack Payne’s first goal had given the home side a first-half lead.

Wycombe Wanderers and Bury cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw at Adams Park, a result that leaves them in fifth and sixth place respectively. Shrewsbury Town missed the chance to move above Burton Albion, who play Portsmouth tomorrow, following their 2-0 defeat at Hartlepool. Goals from Charlie Wyke and Brad Walker cost Micky Mellon’s team their unbeaten record.

Stevenage slipped to 17th after fighting back from two goals down against York City, only to concede a late penalty. Michael Coulson and Wes Fletcher both scored in the first 15 minutes before Chris Whelpdale and Tom Pett brought Stevenage back in the match. But Fletcher converted his spot-kick on 75 minutes to earn York the three points and take them above their opponents in the congested middle of the table.

Accrington Stanley climbed out of the relegation zone with their first win of the season, against Tranmere Rovers. A double from James Gray and a Kai Naismith winner eight minutes from time earned them three precious points and ensure that Abdulai Bell-Baggie’s double was in vain.

Exeter City replace Accrington at the bottom after going down 2-1 at home to Mansfield Town. Rakish Bingham and Fergus Bell gave the visitors a two-goal cushion at half-time, and although Matt Grimes struck from a free-kick in the second half, it was not enough to avoid their fourth defeat in six league games.
