DODGEMS: Padded cars my foot (News, last week). These things are glorified dodgems and will be driven as such. — Michael White, Malvern, Worcestershire.

BOYCOTT: Amazon’s delisting of the book House of Bush, House of Saud by Craig Unger (Books, last week) is not based on the thinness of Unger’s allegations on the Saudi influence on terrorism as you make clear. Amazon claims to have been put on notice for libel by solicitors. The solicitors have issued a statement that they have not contacted Amazon about Unger’s book. Nor have we, or anyone else, been contacted. Amazon’s boycott is shared by no other bookseller in Britain and it has been condemned by The Bookseller. — Martin Rynja, Publisher, Gibson Square Books, London N1.

LIVE AID: Although Led Zeppelin felt their performance at Live Aid wasn’t up to scratch, they have done a very decent thing by making a considerable donation to the Band Aid Trust to show continued support, despite not wanting to be included in the forthcoming DVD. — Jill Sinclair, Live Aid DVD.
