Nintendo DS, £30.
All ages
Nintendo's latest game is the new puzzle champion, and it is as striking in its simplicity as it is compelling. All you do is slide coloured tiles horizontally across a stack that is growing inexorably higher. Make groups of three or more matching tiles and they vanish. If there's a gap between tile stacks you can tip them into the hole.
What makes the game fresh is the use of the DS stylus to swish the tiles back and forth. You can also play against others wirelessly across the room or around the world. This is awfully addictive, yet modest value.
