Pinsent Masons has been at the heart of deals across a variety of sectors, including advising Everton Football Club on the acquisition of a majority stake in the club by the Miami-based investment company 777 Partners for an undisclosed sum. The performance-related deal resulted in 777 agreeing to pay a set amount for the owner Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1 per cent shareholding at the club, but there were factors by which that figure could vary depending on Everton’s on and off-field progress.

It also advised on the £1.141 billion purchase of the transmission assets for the 1.32 gigawatt Hornsea Two offshore windfarm, which became the world’s largest offshore wind farm when it became fully operational in August 2022. The firm’s client, Diamond Transmission Partners Hornsea Two, purchased assets, including the onshore substation, export cables and offshore substation of the site, which lies about 55 miles off the Yorkshire coast.

The firm has also worked with Winchburgh Developments on a large urban regeneration project at Winchburgh, West Lothian, to create 3,450 homes, schools, improved roads and a marina adjacent to the Forth and Clyde canal. An additional highlight came in May when the Scottish lawyer Laura Cameron became the firm’s first female managing partner.

In July, Pinsent Masons announced it would be moving its Glasgow base to the £35 million Lucent Building development at Bothwell Street in 2024. This follows the 2022 relocation of Edinburgh operations to an agile working-focused premises on Morrison Street in the city’s financial district.
