The latest statue to adorn the fourth plinth in London’s Trafalgar Square is of a horse skeleton — one with ticker tape tied around a foreleg giving share prices on the London Stock Exchange. Gift Horse, by the German artist Hans Haacke, was unveiled by the city’s mayor, Boris Johnson. It is a reference to a statue of William IV on horseback that was never erected due to lack of funds
