Darren Ferguson, the Peterborough United manager, has been dismissed, according to reports.
Ferguson, the son of Sir Alex Ferguson, led the club to promotion from Coca-Cola League One last season, when they won the title.
However, they have struggled in the Coca-Cola Championship this season, winning only two of their 16 matches. They slipped to the bottom of the table on Saturday after they lost 3-1 away to Newcastle United. Ipswich Town moved above them after their 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Reading at the Madejski Stadium.
Peterborough declined to confirm the fate of Ferguson, who was appointed by the club in January 2007. Barry Fry, the club’s director of football, and Bob Symms, the chief executive, refused to comment as they left London Road.
Peterborough had won promotion from League Two at the end of the 2007-08 season.
