Why won’t Tony go on Newsround?

TONY BLAIR must have his heart set on appearing on Blue Peter.

We hear that, for the forthcoming party conferences, Newsround has lined up a 13-year-old “Little Jenny” (in the image of Jenny Scott) and a 2-year-old “Little Andrew” (in the image, up to a point, of Andrew Neil) to interview politicians for the children’s news programme. But they won’t be speaking to Mr Blair. “We are distraught,” says a BBC insider.

Only last week a leaked memo confirmed that the PM was keen to appear on children’s TV programmes before leaving office. So what does he have against Newsround?
