Bali’s security is a model example
Bali airport, about ten days ago. The terrorism threat remains high, and security is tight.
A small, sun-tanned group of rather beautiful British holiday makers, on their way home, are separated into men and women and put into different rooms.
This is not unusual procedure. There is no reason to suspect that Balinese airport officials recognise any of them. Everybody giggles and obediently goes where they are told.

Later the group reconvenes and heads for its flight.
“The only thing that got us through that,” shudders one of the five girls, thinking of the strip search she has just faced, “was thinking of you two going through the same thing.”
The two men exchange glances. One of them is a middle-aged pop star. The other is a Young British Artist.
“But we didn’t,” says one.
