Sir, Why is Nimbyism so readily rejected as a reason for objection to development proposals (letter, June 28)? If the greater part of one’s wealth is invested in a home that reflects the qualities of life that one most values, it should be accepted as a perfectly valid reason to oppose proposals that would destroy those qualities. Only when full compensation is offered in return for a withdrawal of objections should Nimbyism be rejected.
