Passchendaele

Even by the standards of Canadian movies, this one is a stinker

It’s hard to overstake how unimaginably dreadful is Passchendaele, a First World War drama that does Canada’s already ropey film-making reputation no favours whatsoever. Shot with the soft-focus glow of a 1970s shampoo advertisement, littered with cloth-eared dialogue and execrable performances, this is a shoddy TV movie that has no place filling up our already overstuffed cinemas.
