Pagan competition

If training for the pagan priesthood takes four years, how can the established Church compete?

Sir, A late ordinand of our acquaintance was pleased that he had never lost a day’s pay when preparing for ordination, his entire training having been under a diocesan scheme, through evening classes and occasional weekend courses. Now we learn that training for the “pagan priesthood” takes four years (letter, June 23).

How can the established Church compete on such unequal terms?
