The Mikado
Jonathan Miller’s evergreen G&S spoof transports the Town of Titipu to a 1920s English grand-hotel milieu with hilarious results. Felicity Palmer, the production’s original Katisha 20 years ago, rejoins such stalwarts as Richard Angas’s grossly inflated Mikado and Richard Suart’s unctuous Ko-Ko.

Salome
Susan Bullock sings powerfully as the bloodthirsty nymphet in this concert performance of Richard Strauss’s 1905 shocker, conducted by Richard Farnes. Peter Hoare’s Herod, Anne-Marie Owens’s imperious Herodias and Daniel Sumegi’s booming John the Baptist are terrific in support.
