Once upon a Time in the West (1968)

Sky Movies Classics, 9pm

Sergio Leone followed his iconic spaghetti western trilogy with this more ambitious cowboy saga. When her husband is murdered, Claudia Cardinale’s vengeful widow hires two ruthless mercenaries, played by Charles Bronson and Jason Robards, to fight back against Henry Fonda’s railroad enforcer. Co-written by two legends of Italian cinema, Bernardo Bertolucci and Dario Argento, it is ponderously paced but beautifully shot. Leone went to great lengths in persuading Fonda to challenge his good-guy image by playing a child-killing psycho, but failed to coax his regular star Clint Eastwood into making a cameo. (165min)

Greenfingers (2000)
