One to watch
Described as a “bright light” by her nominator, Lucia Quinney Mee, 13, from Ballycastle, will carry the Torch through Ballymena. She was a keen participant in gymnastics, trampolining and dance until she underwent liver transplants in 2007 and 2009. This year she took part in the World Transplant Games in Sweden, winning four medals. She has also helped raise funds and awareness for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation.

Going out
After the Torch passes by Ballymena, you could take the chance to scale the Slemish Mountain, a place of pilgrimage as it is said to be where St Patrick tended animals as a boy. In the evening, traditional music will be played at the Adair Arms Hotel on Ballymoney Road from 9.30pm to 11.30pm
