The childish attempt to exclude French from the Olympics should not have got off the starting blocks

Sir, The Olympics will get off to a bad start if the English-language supremacists try and twist the rules to exclude French (“The phoney war: French fight to be seen and heard at Games”, Mar 17). Brits may not win gold medals at speaking other languages but we do believe in the rule book, which is quite clear that French and English have full equal status as the two official Olympic languages.

This childish attempt to exclude French should not have got off the starting blocks. London is a multilingual city and we should be pleased to share some space with French during the Olympics.
