Olympic bid

Sir, Mr John Disley asks how long British athletes can accept the hospitality of other countries staging the Olympics without Britain being willing to stage them (letters, June 17; see also letters, June 18).

As well over 200 countries have yet to host an Olympics and the Games are held every four years, I believe the answer must be “until after 2800”.
