OHM forklift arm sale ‘will drive growth’

OHM group, one of Ireland’s largest vehicle dealers, has sold off its forklifts division as it looks to “streamline” its business.

British company Briggs Equipment said last week that it had agreed a deal to acquire Irish Lift Trucks, a long-established dealer of materials-handling equipment, for an undisclosed fee.

Family-owned OHM, which was founded in the 1960s by Conal O’Brien, who died in 2013, Gabriel Hogan and Declan McCourt, is Jaguar Land Rover’s Irish distributor and also owns the Spirit Motor Group. It also has a power-generating division, DE Power Solutions.

“This move allows OHM Group to streamline our operations and dedicate our focus on target areas of expansion in our car, truck and power solutions divisions,” said McCourt, its chief executive.
