NORWICH CITY today denied reports that West Ham have made a £4m bid for striker Grant Holt, who wants to leave Carrow Road.
The 31-year-old is said to be keen to move on after the club failed to extend his contract due to his age.
Holt, formerly with Shrewsbury, Rochdale and Nottingham Forest, was the club's leading goalscorer this season and has been linked with a move to Aston Villa. Paul Lambert took over as Villa's manager this weekend after leaving Norwich, who he guided to back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.
Newly promoted West Ham are looking to boost their strike force and are also said to be interested in Holt.
But David McNally, Norwich's chief executive, said on Twitter today: "Just for the record, we have not received a £4m bid for Grant from West Ham as apparently is being suggested."

On his way out of Upton Park is goalkeeper Robert Green, who is in the England squad for this month's European championship in Poland and Ukraine.
“Robert Green is a free agent he has chosen to move on," tweeted West Ham chairman David Gold. “Nobody wants Rob to leave but nothing is for ever, he must do what is best for him and we must do what is best for us.”
Bolton’s Jussi Jaaskelainen is expected to join West Ham, who gained promotion via the playoffs.
