When Bill Simpson’s father returned from the First World War in 1917, he gave his son a teddy bear — called Rupert. Simpson went on to collect more than 250 teddies, the last of them just before his death in 2013. He named them all, and his wife made clothes for them. Simpson left the collection to the Milestone museum, which has put them on display in Mr Simpson’s Teddy Bear Museum — including Rupert, held by Nick Suffolk
