No swift verdict
Savers have been warned not to expect a swift end to the court case between the banks and the Office of Fair Trading. Bank charge claims have been put on hold during the case but the judge said on Friday that he had no idea when he would deliver a verdict.
Housing misery
Home repossessions leapt by 21% to 27,100 last year, according to the latest figures from the Council of Mortgage Lenders. The figure is expected to rise to 45,000 in 2008. However, this is still far fewer than the 75,000 homes repossessed in 1991.
Blue-chip profit fears hit Footsie

The FTSE 100 closed down 245 points at 5,784, after profit warnings from blue chips BT and Glaxo Smith Kline.
