POLICE in Co Armagh believe there was a racist motive to an attack on the homes of two Portuguese families in Portadown early yesterday. Three flats at Moeran Park had their doors kicked and battered, breaking the glass, at about 1.30am. Temporary accommodation was arranged for a couple and their two young children who were living in one of the flats. Three relatives of the couple were also moved elsewhere.

ATM services in the east of the country face disruption from tomorrow because of a planned strike at cash services firm Brinks Allied. Banks says it is confident that it can keep most ATMs in operation.
Man charged with assault over feud
A LIMERICK man aged 24 was remanded in custody in connection with an assault in the city in which a brother of the late councillor Michael Kelly was injured. At a special sitting of Limerick district court yesterday morning, Simon Casey of Clonlong was charged with assaulting Anthony Kelly. The court was told there had been a feud between the two families for the past two years.

A WOMAN was found dead in a derelict house in Eadestown, Co Kildare between Naas and Blessington yesterday.
Robbery arrests
FOUR people suspected of involvement in a robbery in Malin, Co Donegal yesterday were arrested in Culmore Road, near Londonderry.
