Leanne wins BBC’s The Voice

Leanne Mitchell won the BBC talent show The Voice last night. Mitchell, 28, from Lowestoft, Suffolk, worked as a singer in a holiday park before auditioning for the programme. She beat Tyler James, Bo Bruce and Vince Kidd to win £100,000 and a record deal.

Car drives wrong way on M25

Police used a stinger device to halt a speeding car travelling the wrong way along Britain’s busiest motorway. The black Vauxhall Astra was pursued for 14 miles on the M25 and M26 motorways after failing to stop for officers near Godstone, Surrey, at about 4.40am yesterday. At times, the car took to the hard shoulder to avoid oncoming cars. Two men in their twenties were arrested after the vehicle’s tyres were punctured. One is in hospital with a shoulder injury, the other is in custody.


Ferrari GTO sold for £23m

A 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, originally built for the British racing driver Stirling Moss, has been bought by an American businessman for £22.7m, a record for a Ferrari. It was sold by Eric Heerema, the owner of the Nyetimber English wine company.
