GARDAI investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Dublin’s south inner city say the incident may have resulted from a row between rival gangs over drugs. The 22-year-old victim was known to gardai. Another man who was shot in the leg was also 22 and also from the Dublin 8 area. He is being treated at St James’s hospital, where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Belfast stabbing

A MAN in his twenties is in a stable condition after being stabbed in the chest by a gang in south Belfast. He was with two friends when they were set upon at about 4am yesterday. The other men were slightly injured.

Suspicious death

GARDAI are treating as suspicious the death of a man in his twenties whose body was found at about 2pm yesterday at Swinford livestock market, Co Mayo. A post-mortem examination will be conducted.
