POLICE arrested more than 70 people yesterday during Scotland’s first large Orange parade and rally of the year. About 14 were detained in connection with the parade itself and at least 60 around the area of Glasgow Green where a rally was held. More than 18,000 people from 182 Glasgow lodges and about 90 bands joined the Orange procession, the first since Sir John Orr’s review of parades in Scotland.

HOSPITAL managers in the Western Isles have told church ministers and priests visiting the sick that to prevent the spread of MRSA they must wash their hands before carrying out any “laying on of hands” .
