Victoria May Lowe was born on August 10, 2015, at Royal Surrey County Hospital to Anneli, 39, and Robert Lowe, 39

Victoria — the first child of Anneli and Robert, who married in April last year — arrived via an emergency caesarean section with her eyes wide open and a strong pair of lungs. She was named in the operating theatre: “We wanted something very English and traditional, but something with a presence,” says Anneli, whose final weeks of pregnancy coincided with the heat wave in the UK and the first of this summer’s Tube strikes — “that was fun and games”.

Speaking of games, Robert has already created a space in the loft for a train set, but Anneli has plenty of other activities in mind too. “I have two nieces so I’m afraid it’s going to be very girl-dominated. There’ll be dancing and gymnastics.”

Francesca Constance Chopin was born on May 15, 2015, at University College Hospital in London to Olivia, 37, and Adrian Chopin, 38

Francesca arrived at UCH on 15/5/15 at 5pm, only a short ride from her parents’ home in the Barbican’s Lauderdale Tower — unlike her brother Sterling’s birth in New York when Olivia travelled from home to hospital by ferry. Sterling (New reader, Oct 26, 2013) is happy to have a little sister, and mutters “baby, baby” while trying to present her with inappropriate gifts of food, toys and other choking hazards.

Francesca loves looking around her, especially on outings around the Barbican. She has been to visit her paternal grandmother in Guernsey, and a trip is planned to Menton, France, in September with both sets of grandparents.
