Chloe and Daniel, who are engaged, wanted a French name to match the baby’s French surname. Amelie is also French for hardworking and industrious.
“We hope our baby grows up to match her name, hardworking. Her middle name is Rose, which is linked to my youngest sister, Lily,” says Chloe.
“I’m looking forward to doing all the usual girlie things with her; I want to have the same relationship with her as I do with my mum.”
Amelie is already very alert, always looking around when she is awake. She has just started pouting, which her parents have noticed she does when she is hungry.

The couple wanted an Irish name that originates from Londonderry, Northern Ireland, where Darren is from. The middle name, Annie, was chosen after both of Darren’s grandmothers.
After the birth, Dara was found to have an infection, so had to stay in the hospital for a few days. The babe is now in the best of health. “She is the greatest gift in life. Her great-grandmother would have loved to have met Dara,” Darren says.
“We are unbelievably happy and the midwives at the hospital did an amazing job. We cannot thank them enough.”
